Wild Adelaide Welcome Feast, Australia

An incredible reception for us in Adelaide with the Wild Adelaide Welcome Feast. In an abandoned piggery in the Adelaide Hills, South Australia’s most progressive chefs, winemakers and distillers cooked a feast on open fires using wild food and regional produce, under bright stars and overlooking looking bushland (that appeared to be giant trees of broccoli!). A sculpture artist was commissioned to create on-site wood installations.

We ate Australian native greens, seafood from the State’s waters, game and traditional meats including a whole prosciutto pig, paired with drinks of South Australia: green ant cocktails and wines expressing the local punk spirit of winemaking.

Just for the evening, they brought in the inimitable Matt Bax of Bar Americano, one of Australia's most brilliant bartenders, and a rocking bluegrass band.
